How to Start
It's a question I get asked often. Whether its friends or relatives or coworkers, people often wonder how to get started with a fitness program (or get back on track). The answer is simple: just start.
Wow that sounds simple doesn't it?
The truth is, you have to start somewhere. Don't worry about the 20th pound you want to lose of 20, focus on the first one.
Some tips to start:
* Start small and start regular - maybe it's 10 minutes every day after your morning coffee, maybe it's a walk around the block, maybe the gym 3 times a week. You can build from wherever you start
* Pick something you like (or at least that you don't hate). Like the soaps in the morning? Spend some of your tv time working out while you watch. Check my blog or the internet for some work outs. Like music? use it to power your walk, matching your walking pace to the beat
* Start with a friend. In person or virtually, we will be more motivated if someone else is counting on us
* Don't stop starting. Missed your target? That's OK, pick up and start again
